2012 NAISA MOHEGAN SUN CONFERENCE UPDATE...

Hello NAISA members and friends,

This message brings news of several updates regarding the association and the 2012 Native American and Indigenous Studies Association (NAISA) meeting in Uncasville, CT, June 3-6, 2012. Please go to www.naisa.org for links to the conference site and information on renewing your membership.

EARLY CONFERENCE REGISTRATION will be available only until April 26, 2012. After April 26th, registration costs go up; the on-line registration deadline is Friday, May 18, 2012 (11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time); thereafter, you will have to register at the conference. If you have questions, please contact Yale Conferences & Events at confserv@yale.edu or 203-432-0465.

TO REMAIN ON THE PROGRAM, all participants must register and be current NAISA members. To become a member, or to renew your membership, go to http://www.naisa.org/ and click Membership in the upper left menu.
The PRELIMINARY PROGRAM is posted: use this to find the day/time your panel, roundtable, or paper is scheduled.

The Mohegan Tribe is hosting a pre-conference event on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 2:30pm–7:30p.m., a Strawberry Social, but the event has a limited capacity; you can sign up for that when you register as well as for an historical tour.
HOTEL BOOKING at Mohegan Sun at conference rates is closed; rooms are available at higher rates. Off-site hotel options are available at the conference, linked to www.naisa.org.

We look forward to seeing you at the 2012 NAISA meeting in Uncasville, CT, June 3 – 6, 2012, for what promises to be an exciting meeting in New England at Mohegan Sun! There are over 780 individuals on the program, which includes 167 breakout sessions over three days.

2013 Call for Applications: $$ to Attend Annual Meeting

Co-Editors and Editorial Board for NAIS Journal

Inaugural co-editors for the NAIS Journal were selected by NAISA Council in November 2012: Professors Jean O'Brien (White Earth Ojibwe, University of Minnesota) and Robert Warrior (Osage, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign). The Inaugural Editorial Board was appointed by NAISA Council and the Co-Editors in March 2013: click on "Journal" in the left-hand column to see the list!
