Tēnā koutou katoa,
Ngāmihi nunui o te wā. The Council of the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association is excited to announce the NAISA sponsored gatherings in multiple locations that will take place between February and June 2022. These gatherings will replace the regular annual gathering that has taken place in-person and virtually previously. However, our Annual Business Meeting will still take place and is to be held virtually in June (date to be announced shortly).
Council were overwhelmed by the number, variation, and quality of proposals that were submitted following the release of the regional CFP in September. Council has approved eight in-person, virtual, and/or hybrid gatherings that stretch from Bodø and the Northwest Territories in the North to Nayarit and Queensland in the South. The distribution and quality of the gatherings reflect the reach and significance of NAISA to Indigenous Studies worldwide.
NAISA Council would like to thank all those who were willing to put forward a proposal, as being willing to do so particularly during a pandemic, demonstrates the volunteering and commitment of time, energy, and resources, which remains the backbone of NAISA as an Association.
Brendan Hokowhitu, NAISA President
