NAISA memberships run from January 1st through December 31st of each year. Memberships must be renewed at the beginning of each calendar year.
NAISA membership is handled by the University of Minnesota Press, the publisher of our journal, Native American & Indigenous Studies
). Click for more information on the journal NAIS
Individuals may sign up for membership at tiered rates. Membership includes:
- A subscription to the journal NAIS, the official publication of NAISA, which is printed twice per year. Members also receive digital access to the journal NAIS through Project MUSE during the membership year. Previously, access to the digital version of NAIS was only available through academic institution library portals. This membership benefit allows independent scholars and unaffiliated community researchers access to not only the latest issue of NAIS, but the entire NAIS archive. Members will be emailed instructions on how to access digital NAIS at the beginning of the month following membership purchase or renewal.
- Complimentary job postings on the NAISA Opportunities page (website account required; privilege available to Individual memberships only)
- The privilege to vote in the regular and special elections (privilege available to Individual memberships only)
Institutional memberships are available for libraries, schools, colleges, universities, academic departments, and educational non-profits to be able to subscribe to the NAIS journal. Please note: Aside from a NAIS journal subscription, an institutional membership does not include other privileges of an individual membership, such as the complimentary posting of job announcements on our Opportunities page, and cannot be used for NAISA conference admission.
