Travel Grant Information for NAISA 2023 Tkaronto

MAY 11-13, 2023 TKARONTO (TORONTO), ONTARIO, CANADA

PURPOSE

To help offset costs associated with attending its annual meeting, NAISA offers a small travel grant. These costs are limited to Early Conference Registration, Air and/or Ground Travel, and Lodging. Given limited funds and in anticipation of a large pool of applicants, we anticipate awards will be between $500 and $1,200 USD. Awards will be paid as reimbursements to be collected at the conference site Registration desk. See the Form of Disbursement section below.

ELIGIBILITY

Any NAISA member in good standing whose abstract proposal has been accepted for the 2023 conference. The grants are intended to assist NAISA members with limited travel incomes, such as students, retirees, and community members. 

CRITERIA

The travel grant will be allocated based on the following criteria:

  • Quality of applicant’s conference proposal
  • Financial need
  • Relative access to institutional funding
  • Contribution to the goals and aspirations of NAISA, and 
  • Connection to Indigenous Peoples and promotion of geographic, cultural, and/or intellectual diversity.

DEADLINE

Applications must be received no later than FEBRUARY 24, 2023 (11:59 pm, US/Canada Eastern Standard Time). Award notification will be on or before MARCH 10, 2023 (11:59 pm, US/Canada Eastern Standard Time)

FORM OF DISBURSEMENT

Grants for air or ground transportation and hotel will be paid as reimbursements through the form of a US check or wire transfer to non-US banks. Checks will be available at the conference site Registration desk. Note that grants for early registration will be handled internally by NAISA; these monies will not be sent to the awardees.
