The School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies (SHPRS) seeks an early-career scholar who investigates the history of Indigenous Peoples of the “North American West.” We are defining the region in its broadest terms, cultural, geographic, and political. We include the entire western region of North America, a geographic focus that transcends national boundaries, to include borderlands and diasporic communities. Scholars whose work engages one or more of the following themes are particularly encouraged to apply: migration and diasporic communities, kinship, sovereignty, race and ethnicity, and/or gender. We are especially interested in applicants who are reflective about their methodologies in ways likely to engage both public and academic audiences – that is, scholars who can lead conversations not only about what we know but about how we know it. We wish to hire a scholar who will be able to work in a multi-disciplinary environment, engaging a diverse student audience across multiple learning platforms to provide exemplary teaching, research, and community engagement.
