The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) invites applications for 2 tenure-track positions in the Department of Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor, with a proposed starting date of July 1, 2024. As an institution committed to the fostering of an inclusive and transformative learning environment, UNBC values high quality and growth in both teaching and scholarship. We are seeking highly qualified and passionate individuals with a PhD in Psychology to join our dynamic Psychology Department. The ideal candidates will specialize in one of the following areas: Health, Multicultural, Indigenous, Personality, Psychopathology, or Abnormal Psychology.
UNBC’s Department of Psychology offers BSc, MSc, and PhD in Psychology and an MEd in Counselling. The Psychology Department is dedicated to developing and disseminating knowledge in psychology, focusing on areas relevant to the North, such as human health, human development, and social well-being. UNBC’s Psychology Department provides a comprehensive and rigorous education in psychology, underpinned by an Honors Program that is particularly robust, offering students a chance to delve deeply into psychological research and develop a solid foundation for advanced graduate study.
The ideal candidates will have a PhD (or ABD) in Psychology from an accredited university. A demonstrated record or strong potential for research excellence, excellent teaching and communications skills, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion are also necessary. Additionally, experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate students with research is a plus. Current membership (or potential membership) and involvement in professional organizations related to your field is advantageous. The successful candidates will work with the Department of Psychology faculty to ensure outstanding teaching, research and service to the university and surrounding community.

The Northwest campus in Terrace is situated on traditional Ts’msyen (Tsimshian) territory of the Kitsumkalum and Kitselas First Nations. It includes a satellite campus in the coastal community of Prince Rupert.

Salary
The salary for this position will be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant qualifications and experience as per the UNBC Faculty Association Collective Agreement. The annual salary range for this position is expected to be from $84,637 to $122,736. Please refer to the link below to the Collective Agreement (Article 48) for more compensation information:
