Elon is a dynamic private, co-educational, comprehensive institution that is a national model for actively engaging faculty and students in teaching and learning in a liberal arts based residential campus. This position's primary responsibilities will be to teach six undergraduate courses per academic year, from within their field of specialization and the Core Curriculum, Elon's general education curriculum (no less than three COR courses per year). At least one of the courses should also be designated as AER (Advancing Equity Requirement), focusing on systemic racial inequities in the United States. Additional duties include regular service on departmental and university committees, academic advising and mentoring of undergraduate students, and exploring potential curricular development as appropriate to the interests of the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will be appointed in the most appropriate department and School/College (such as World Languages and Cultures, Sociology/Anthropology, History/Geography, or other departments/disciplines appropriate to the candidate's strengths and interests). We especially welcome applications from underrepresented identity groups, particularly those from native or indigenous groups.
The successful candidate has the option to join Elon's Advancing Equity Scholars cohort. Members of this cohort will engage in Elon's Advancing Equity curricular and scholarly initiatives to (1) include methods to address or remedy injustice and inequality throughout their courses and/or (2) teach a course focused on racial equity in the U.S. Participation in this cohort includes course development funds and other benefits.
