The Department of Physical Therapy, College of Rehabilitation Sciences (CORS), within the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences (RFHS), University of Manitoba, Canada invites applications for a full-time probationary, tenure-track appointment in the Department of Physical Therapy at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The expected date of appointment is July 1, 2024, or at a date to be negotiated. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, and in accordance with the University of Manitoba Faculty Association collective agreement.
The College of Rehabilitation Sciences is located on the Bannatyne Campus of the University of Manitoba and houses professional programs for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and respiratory therapy. The College offers a research-based master’s in Rehabilitation Sciences and a doctoral program in Applied Health Sciences.
The Department of Physical Therapy is located within a large health sciences campus and collaborates with the Colleges of dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy within RFHS, as well as other faculties and departments of the University, notably Kinesiology and Recreation Management. The Department of Physical Therapy offers the Master of Physical Therapy entry-to practice program, which is fully accredited with Physiotherapy Education Accreditation Canada, and is currently entering an exciting phase of faculty and curriculum renewal.
The Department of Physical Therapy works closely with professional organizations in Manitoba and with external partners who support work-integrated learning for students in community, hospital and primary care sites. It provides opportunities for interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration in health sciences research and education. This is an exceptional opportunity for a qualified individual to collaborate in interdisciplinary research, teaching, and service alongside faculty with complementary and diverse expertise towards the ongoing success of the Department of Physical Therapy
Responsibilities:
The individual will be expected to teach basic and clinical skill courses in the Master of Physical Therapy entry to practice program, as well as undertake service and/or administrative roles (e.g. Committee membership and/or chairing) in this program.
Our ideal candidate identifies as Indigenous/ from an equity-deserving group; has experience and expertise in research related to Indigenous health or the health of equity-deserving groups; and is able to teach in areas related to anti-oppression, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care.
The individual would be expected to contribute to teaching in, as well as supervision of students in the CORS thesis based graduate programs Rehabilitation Sciences (MSc) | Explore UM | University of Manitoba (umanitoba.ca) Applied Health Sciences (PhD) | Explore UM | University of Manitoba (umanitoba.ca))
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a research program leading to securing funding externally, such as through the Canadian Tri-Agencies (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC). The applicant is expected to have excellent communication skills, knowledge of anti-oppressive, anti-racist and/or anti-colonial research and teaching practices, be committed to truth and reconciliation and have broad views of health and wellness.
We are seeking a candidate with experience in health research about of using equity-based research frameworks with a priority for Indigenous related scholarly activity.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess or be in the final stages of completion of a PhD degree. Applicants must also be eligible for licensure with the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba.
